FAQs

Children as young as 2.5 years old have joined with their parents in the 'Parents and Kids' classes.

Adults of all ages have surprised themselves by being able to complete many of the drills and activities that they never thought that they could do.

House of Wrestling coaches have a unique ability to tailor many of the activities to suit many that join in.
Our coaches focus on injury prevention, ensuring that the chosen wrestling techniques are safe for the student's level of experience and ability. You will often hear, 'look after yourself and each other'.

Our programs not only focus on controlled movement and the correct form, but we also teach students how to be a good training partner. For us, this is defined as a partner that is safe & maximises effective learning & training.
Absolutely! It was one of the main reasons why House of Wrestling was established - to encourage women and children to feel safe and enjoy the experience and journey of wrestling.

When women realise they can physically do things that they never imagined they could do, the impact can be empowering. It instils a certain depth of courage & confidence, unlike any other sport or activity.
Wrestling is a challenging yet rewarding sport.

At House of Wrestling, if you're willing to commit to hard work, then we will help you achieve the fitness and conditioning required to start & enjoy the art of wrestling.

Prior experience in conditioning, wrestling and/or combat sport may be an advantage, but it is not essential.
It is important to complete the forms that will be sent to you when you make an initial enquiry so that we can get you onto the mat sooner rather than later.

Wear active clothing preferably fitted & without buttons, zippers or pockets as it can cause harm to you and/or your training partner.

To avoid the mat burn when you first start, it's best to wear knee guards or pants that cover your knees.

Wear wrestling shoes if you have them otherwise, you can step on the mat with bare feet. Wearing socks is not advised since you require grip for many of the wrestling and conditioning drills.

Bring a water bottle and any medication, as required.

Classes are often 45 minutes for the Kids' class and 90 minutes for the Adults' class. Listen to your body and go at your own pace. If there is a drill or activity you do not feel comfortable with, you do not have to complete it, or you can request a modified version. Sitting out and observing the drills also contributes to learning.
